Vinny At Six is a new independent Lounge bar and restaurant for Dorchester’s discerning grown-ups. Offering something different – intimate with a friendly atmosphere. Dedicated to bringing unrivalled quality in drinks, food and service. Well that’s what is says on the tin and we were very interested on seeing for ourselves what this new restaurant/bar has to offer to people of Dorchester.
We were lucky to be invited along to the launch party, the night before the grand opening. Outside still looks familiar, but with a new sign declaring this is now Vinny @ Six (V6).
It is owned by Roly and Helen Harries, who also own & run the Blue Vinny pub & restaurant in Puddletown – hence the name. The day to day management of V6 is mixologist Zach Boyd-Paton, along with assistant manager Fran Legg. Behind the scenes the Head Chef is Jon Rabbetts and his Sous Chef Marius Kasprowsky.
Inside has been totally transformed, dark grey walls, heavy patterned wallpaper and low lighting, gives it a very sophisticated, grown up look. The interior was designed by Mark Adams and he has done an amazing job in transforming the building from a French restaurant into a stylish bar/restaurant.
re are two distinct areas, the front is the lounge bar, where you can sit and enjoy a huge range of cocktails, craft beers etc. and at the back is the restaurant. The food ranges from snacks, to small plates (English Style Tapas), all the way to three course meals. The menu will flow with the seasons and they will be cooking lots of great local food, meats, with daily fresh fish from Weymouth.
There is an extensive drinks menu, again this will go with the seasons, serving local and guest craft ales & ciders. The cocktail list is huge, Zach & Fran will only be too pleased to mix you your favourite or why not try something new.
V6 is a great place to relax after a hard days work or make a night of it with cocktails and then a meal – they are currently open Wednesday – Sunday from 12pm. Give them a try, tweeds are not mandatory!
