Review of the Lulworth Castle Inn
We were invited to visit Lulworth Castle Inn and it was great timing as my husband and I had just returned from holiday, so any excuse to extend it! I invited my parents along too as they’d looked after our two dogs whilst we had been away and definitely deserved a reward.
It was a lovely sunny day when we visited and the pub has its own parking across the road so it was nice and easy to find and park. We all had something different and to be honest, I forced them into that decision a bit because it’s nice to be able to see different dishes – not that I was allowed to share any of course, sharing food in my family is forbidden!
My husband had The Castle Burger, streaky bacon, cheese, fries, pickles & kimchi slaw. He cleared his plate, so enough said! My mum had a flat bread; Neopolitan pizza Margarita, confit tomato, Laverstoke Mozzerella & basil. She is a vegetarian and not a big eater, so this suited her perfectly.
My dad ate Grilled Sea Bream, linguine, roasted fennel puree, samphire & soft herbs. The opposite to mum, dad is a big eater. It was probably on the smaller side for a big appetite, however, if you were enjoying a starter and/or pudding, it would be plenty! He said that the flavours really complemented each other and the sea bream was delicious.
I enjoyed my go-to favourite when I can’t decide what to have; Butcombe beer battered cod, chips, peas & tartare sauce. The batter was nice and crispy. Let’s face it, there’s nothing worse than soggy batter. It was nicely presented with tasty peas – and it’s not often I’d say that about peas!
A lovely little pub in a beautiful location, the Castle Inn is a perfect for a meal after a coastal walk! We all had a great time and enjoyed our meals and I would recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment, as it can get busy, especially on a sunny weekend.
