Review of The Kings Arms in Charlton Horethorne
In a village of Charlton Horethorne is a lovely pub called Kings Arms. It’s near enough to Sherborne and not too far from the A303 if you are travelling and fancy a pub lunch or dinner (they do have rooms too!) in the Dorset – Somerset borders. We have been there plenty of times and have often taken visiting friends there for long lunches too. We had lunch there recently and I thought it was time to write about it!
There were great choices on the menu the day we visited from starters and light bites to dishes like chicken & butternut squash curry and free range Creedy Carver Duck Leg. However, we decided not to have any starters. We chose to have Heirloom Tomato & Feta Tart Tatin with Roquette Salad and Salmon Fishcakes, mixed leaves and Tarragon Cream and we also shared a portion of hand cut chips.
Both dishes were delicious and we couldn’t even finish all the chips! Dessert menu was very tempting and we decided to share Elderflower Cheesecake with Blueberry Coulis. It certainly was a great choice but equally I could have chosen many others from the dessert menu. To finish our lovely lunch our coffees were served petit four.
Kings Arms is definitely a pub to visit if you already haven’t. We keep returning there because their food is great and service has always been very friendly. They have children’s menu too, and we often bring ours with us too.
