This week I got the chance to head over to Dorset Ginger HQ to meet the producers of this much loved and great tasting Dorset product.
Dorset Ginger was lovingly created more than 20 years ago and in 2017, ownership changed hands to the lovely Nick and Timi and they have spent this year injecting their own love, care and passion into this delicious local product.
Nestled in the beautiful Dorset countryside, I was treated to a tour of the Dorset Ginger premises in Lychett Matravers. I was given an explanation of how their products are made and I particularly loved the little army of urns that are used to carefully blend the ingredients together to form their drinks. Dorset Ginger have SALSA accreditation and use only the finest ingredients in their top secret, delicious recipes. They also pasturise their products to remove the need for any added sulphates.
In terms of the range of drinks themselves, they have their signature Ginger and Strong Ginger drinks, as well as their more seasonal Ginger with Cinnamon (perfect added to coffee or coffee liqueur this Christmas). They also have a delightfully summery Sicilian Lemonade.
I had the pleasure of sampling their products and their signature ginger drink is wonderfully fiery with a deliciously full, ginger flavour (with the Strong Ginger drink even more so). They are refreshing on their own, become more of a ginger beer when mixed with lemonade and a tremendous mixer for an autumnal cocktail or added to a mulled Christmas wine or cider for some spicy heat.
You can find Dorset Ginger at many of our fine local Dorset food festivals but you can also find them at a whole host of local shops and delis across the county and beyond.
Dorset Ginger are the perfect example of local producers loving and caring about their product deeply, working hard to create something delicious for their customers. I thoroughly recommend.
