Review of Cote Brasserie in Bournemouth
Its safe to say that July has been busy for me and it was so nice to take a quiet moment with my husband at the end of another busy week and we were excited to spend it in a luxe French style restaurant in the heart of Bournemouth.
Cote Brasserie in Bournemouth opened a little over a year ago and fits right into the bustling restaurant and bar scene. Situated on the corner of Westover Road, it is the perfect location for a quick bite before the theatre or the cinema (both located just 5 minutes walk away), or for a leisurely brunch before enjoying the award winning beach (again, just 5 walk minutes away) or for, in our case, a delicious evening meal.
The restaurant is set over 2 floors and is decorated in a beautiful french style, making the most of the wonderful tall windows and corner setting. There is even a little balcony upstairs which is perfect for enjoying some of the balmy summer evenings we have been having.
We started our evening with a Pampelle Spritz cocktail, available exclusively to the Cote Brasserie restaurants and with its grapefruit citrusy sharpness and the fizz of some sparkling wine (and my favourite colour – pink!) it was a great way to start the night.
Cote Restaurants have a Prestige Set Menu (2 course for £15.98 or 3 courses for £18.95) on Mondays – Fridays from noon. They also have an extensive Al la Carte menu stuffed full of french classics – including incredible sounding fish and meat dishes, a wide range of aperitifs and starters, a full steak menu of all different kinds of cuts and sauces and a delicious array of desserts. There are also some lighter menu choices if all you want for lunch on a hot day is a tasty salad or some delicate fish.
They also have a large drinks menu and the staff were very helpful when recommending a beer or a glass of wine.
We started the evening with some chicken liver parfait (served with toasted brioche and onion marmalade) and Andy had the Crab Mayonnaise (served with sourdough bread).
For the main course, I chose the Steak Frites with Peppercorn Sauce (something I had been looking forward to and it definitely did not disappoint!) and Andy chose the Roast Duck Breast (served with Gratin Potato and a Griottine Cherry sauce). We also added a couple of sides – some classic minted peas and some carrots.
We can also confirm that the desserts are also delicious – choosing the chocolate mousse and Tart au Citron, but there was all sorts of choice as well as a range of coffees and teas.
I can confirm that each dish was all really tasty, all beautifully cooked and we were well looked after by attentive and friendly waiting staff – we really did have a great time and were able to have a lovely date night together.
I have heard lots of lovely things from friends and family who have visited Cote Brasserie many times and it definitely lived up to all those expectations. We had a lovely time and we will definitely be back.
